An example of 10th Mountain Division ski equipment. These skis were made by the S.L .Allen Co (Philadelphia, PA) for the US Army. They were painted white to act as camouflage during missions on snow covered terrain. Many 10th Mountain Division soldiers were recruited by the U.S. National Ski Patrol when they returned from service. Skis like these were monumental in the successful missions against the Germans in the Italian mountains. This set is in very good condition. This is a very unique pair of 10th Mountain skis. They feature utilitarian military spec holes at the tips as well as backcountry travel skin attachments at the tails. A wonderful original white patina.
